Cultural Activities
School Logo
The School believes in encouraging children to participate in variety of extra curricular activities. This is done in two ways. Firstly, a great number of internal competitions and activities are held. These include literary activities such as essay writing, debates, quizzes and elocution, as well as cultural activities such as drama, music and dance. The students have also been guided to create science and environmental education projects, which are showcased as exhibitions.
Apart from these, the school also trains and sends its students for inter-school events held by other prestigious organizations. It has conducted the preliminary stage of the Frank Anthony Memorial Inter-School Debate Competition in 2006-07. The School endeavours to have every student participate in at least one such activity during each academic year.
Dramatics – 2006-07

It was the 19th of August. It was a beautiful day with the sun shining brightly. A perfect day to hold the Inter-house Dramatics Competition. The participants had worked hard to learn their dialogues and to get their expressions right. On the D-Day all of us were excited and curious to watch the plays.

The topic for the Dramatics was the stories of O. Henry. The students of the Aryabhatta House chose the story, ‘The Hand that Riles’. It is a hilarious play about a man, with many criminal records who wants to become the U.S.Marshal. The students of the Bhaskara House chose ‘Jimmy Valentine’. All of us are familiar with this story as we have it in our text. But on this day, we saw all the characters jumping to life. The students of the Insat House enacted ‘The Last Leaf’. It is a story, which touches our hearts. Though it did not have any humour in it, all of us enjoyed it. The students of the Rohini House enacted ‘The Cop and the Anthem’. This is also a funny story about a man who wanted to spend the winter in jail.

All these plays combined with the talent of the students made the day enjoyable. The background music gave a perfect ending. I liked all the four plays. Each play was better than the other. We were surprised to see how well our friends could act, speak and express themselves dramatically. This competition has definitely brought out the hidden talents in the students. The costumes and stage settings were fantastic. All in all, I enjoyed the day.

At the end of the day, Aryabhatta House walked away with the prize while Insat House finished second. Rohini House got the third place while Bhaskara House got the fourth position. Insat got the prize for the best costumes and best stage settings and bagged the shield this year.

Independence Day was celebrated on 15th August, 2006. The Programme started with the hoisting of the National Flag by the Head Boy and the Head Girl followed by the singing of the National Anthem, and a March Past by the Student Council. We had short speeches in English, Hindi and Telugu by our students. “Sare Jahan se Acha Hindustan Hamara” - the beautiful song was sung melodiously by the Scouts and Guides. Our Principal Madam addressed the students at the end instilling the spirit of unity amongst us. The programme ended with the singing of the  school song by everyone.
